KING: Father of Princess Arabella and married to the Queen. Hopeful and optimistic, King Gene tries to go with the flow and avoids conflict. Often oblivious but appreciates others in his life.

ARABELLA: Princess of Staunton and daughter of the King and Queen. A shy and sheltered gamer girl, Arabella sees the best in people. Often tries to please others and struggles to be heard.

DASH FLASH WITH THE CASH a.k.a. DASH: Entrepreneur drag king who holds many jobs around Staunton. Upbeat and enthusiastic, Dash never lets his lack of skills hold him back. Resilient and adaptable to any situation.

BENJAMIN: Prince of Palisander, a kingdom near Staunton. Moody with a punk-rock edge, Benjamin projects a cool confidence but secretly struggles with his own identity. Troubled and insecure.

CHRISTOPHER: Keeper and resident of Staunton’s royal forest, partner of Michael. Easygoing and playfully sarcastic, Christopher stays informed without getting too involved with the drama of the kingdom. Can be cynical and does not read the room well.

ELLIS: Nonbinary refugee from Palisander who lives in Staunton’s royal forest. Empathetic and determined, Ellis faces challenges head-on and never gives up. Uses their intuition to connect with others, living or not.

MICHAEL: The Kingdom of Staunton’s Royal Officiant, partner of Christopher. Awkward but polite, Michael thrives on routine and does his best to be prepared. Professional but lets his guard down around those he loves.

ENSEMBLE CHARACTERS

ROYAL SUBJECTS: Attendees of the events held by the royal family. Includes GUARDS.
 

ANIMALS: Woodland creatures of the Kingdom of Staunton. Friends with Arabella, Ellis, and Christopher. Includes SQUIRREL.
 

SUITORS: Various men eligible to marry Arabella, who resemble leading men from familiar fairytales. Includes CAPTAIN KLEPTON (à la Aladdin), BRONZE BARON (à la the Tin Woodman), EARL OF EXTREMITIES (à la Prince Charming), and PRINCE PEANUT (à la Peter Pan).
 

ENTOURAGE MEMBERS: Various militaristic adults, appearing either extremely masculine or extremely feminine, who enter with Benjamin.
 

LEAD ENTOURAGE MEMBER: Head of Benjamin’s posse from the Kingdom of Palisander. Slick and opportunistic, he only has Palisander’s interests in mind. Stoic unless provoked by Benjamin’s missteps.
 

BENJAMIN’S MEMORIES:  Flashbacks of people from Benjamin’s youth 12 years ago, including CHILDREN (YOUNG BENJAMIN, YOUNG CHRISTOPHER, and YOUNG ELLIS), Benjamin’s FATHER (also plays GHOST OF FATHER), and STEPFATHER.
 

MIRROR: Disembodied voice of Fairy’s mobile device. 
 

ANCESTORS: The spirits of those from marginalized communities across the kingdoms. Includes SOLOIST.
 

STUDENTS: Adults who attend the Royal Fairy School.
 

GHOST OF FATHER: The spirit of Benjamin and Ellis’ father.
